AWS receives recognition for our contribution to the Australian Maritime industry.
IMarEST (the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology) is not just a mouthful, it’s an international body, bringing together marine professionals into a multi-disciplinary community.
In 2016 AWS was awarded a South Australia Branch Certificate from IMarEST
‘For their contribution to the Australian maritime industry, especially for providing clients with specialised technical and training solutions on which they can rely, facilitating the development of weld procedures, qualifying personnel and producing technical solutions to issues surrounding product and service development and supporting research to enhance defect mitigation in welding in the marine industry.’
Our Managing Director Neville Cornish (IEng IMarEng MIMarEST) also received a President’s Commendation ‘in recognition of outstanding service to the Institute.’ Neville has been involved with many of Australia’s major maritime and defence projects in recent decades, as an expert welding engineer and consultant. He has also contributed to valuable research through the University of Adelaide into defect mitigation.
