I was shocked to hear that Dennis Eck, the President of the American Welding Society had passed.
Recently I met Dennis at the AWS International Agent meeting in Bangkok.

His key address was interesting and informative, clearly, he was passionate about our industry, and in supporting the next generations of welders. He encouraged youth to join the welding sector.

I spoke to Dennis several times over the course of the Agent Meeting. He was very generous with his time to listen with interest to my journey in welding over 45 years. As I recall we spoke about my welding industry mentor Bob Buhl who held one of the very first AWS CWI certificates. And I spoke to Dennis on our mutual interest in the training of NextGen welders.
