AICIP Exam Workshop

AICIP WorkShop Info

An AICIP qualified Inspector has the credentials to undertake pressure plant inspection, and also act as a supervising role to Inspectors without the qualification. This could give you a leg-up on your next job application, move into a different role or provide you with a complete career change.

Not only do participants love the workshop, our students have the highest pass-rate of any other AICIP course (>95%), and are often AICIP award winners.

Our workshop is designed and delivered by Les Cowley, who updates the content regularly according to the latest changes in legislation and with contemporary examples. Les has worked as an Inspector and Trainer for over 40 years and is well known as an expert and mentor throughout Australia.

We also have guest lecturers including Dr Rahim Kurji, expert in defect identification and calculus, John Garvey from SafeWork SA, and Tony Mackenzie on fracture mechanics and corrosion principles.

AWS is a training centre that also works in the In-Service Inspection field every day. We also provide welding engineering and inspection services, and all elements of asset integrity management.

There are no prerequisites for the AICIP exam or our workshop, but a relevant working background will give you an advantage.

The workshop would be best suited for those with experience in Mechanical Engineering, Non-Destructive Examination, Welding Inspection or Asset Integrity Management.

Our courses run in our training centre in Adelaide. We can also travel to you if you have a group of at least 10 participants.

The AICIP Workshop is an intensive 10-day course, usually scheduled prior to the AICIP exams twice a year. Contact us to find out upcoming dates through our Expression of Interest form in this page

The cost of the AICIP exam is separate to our course fee.

Les Cowley also runs a one-week Senior AICIP Workshop, in preparation for the more advanced level qualification.

AWS has also developed a series of one-day Extension of Life courses, designed as professional development for Inspectors, or those just beginning a career in Inspection.

Here’s what previous students are saying:

Very knowledgeable and engaging presenters. Comprehensively covered the topics.

    Welding 101,
    AKD

Hi Neville, I never got a chance to provide feed back on the Welding 101 course. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and Barry’s welding knowledge is truly admirable. He was very patient and ready to assist and answer all my queries. The hands on/ practical sessions and  Barry’s explanation of the different types of welding processes was great and I now have a greater appreciation for the welders and their trade. I must admit I would make a terrible welder at this stage and would require a lot more hands on training/experience 😊. This course has increased my aptitude in welding and will greatly assist with my current work scope and any future work. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone wanting to know more about the welding trade as it provides great insights. On another note, I would love to join a beginner’s welding course and possibly the ACIP course (time permitting) and hopefully I could get further details on them.   Kind regards Elvis

    Welding 101,
    Santos

Excellent & very knowledgable trainers. Intense but excellent course. Highly recommend.

    Jay Waterhouse, ALS Industrial,

Les' experience & knowledge is vast and invaluable. Rahim's enthusiasm & teaching ability is great.

    Jonathan Harrison, ASC Shipbuilding,

Excellent delivery of the course by all instructors. Given the vast scope to cover, the course was effectively structured to maximise content retention. Highly recommended for preparation for AICIP exams as well as practical knowledge.

    Francis Avel, ExxonMobil PNG Ltd,
    on the In-Service Inspection Workshop

I really enjoyed the training. Les ran a great course giving a solid overview of the requirements for pressure plant registration. Les really knew the important points that needed to be covered. From his significant experience in this area he is able to deliver an excellent course on this sometimes hard to understand topic.

Michael Jucha, Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance,

The capabilities held within the AWS team coupled with the welding skills coaching concept have enabled me to come ahead leaps and bounds, It provides me with access to professionals such as welding specialists and welding engineers, a luxury I doubt I would have been provided from the conventional method of training. (...)

    Dion James, Easternwell Group,

(...) I am looking forward to developing a life long association with the AWS team past my training and will certainly be recommending their services to any person wishing to further their professional careers.

    Dion James, Easternwell Group,

Can't see how you could pass the exam without doing this course. Generally the course is great!

    Mick O’Keefe, UGL,
