Garth is a technical specialist and Welding Supervisor with extensive experience in the Australian mining, oil and gas industries. His hands on welding skills cover a wide range of processes and materials and his fabrication and Supervision experience has taken him all over Australia, working with structural steel, pipework and engineering maintenance among other things.

Les Cowley has contributed to the metal fabrication and welding industry for about 50 years and is something of an icon for his training and inspection expertise. He has delivered advanced industry training for many years and now at AWS, he runs our In-Service Inspection Workshops across Australia and Internationally. He keeps up to date with standards and technologies by still working as an inspector and supervisor, and a mentor for just about anyone in these industries.

Barry has been training and assessing welders for over twenty years in Australia. He also has a long history of mechanical and welding work and inspection throughout Europe and the UK.
He’s a technical expert with more than forty years on the job and a range of advanced qualifications that reflects his knowledge.

Administration Manager, Helen Praniess has extensive experience with Inspection reports and all sorts of other reports thank you very much. She holds the team together and keeps us on our toes with eyes on the back of her head and home-grown chillies.
Sarah Rodgers is the owner of the voice you’ll usually hear when you call AWS, as our hard working Admin Assistant and Receptionist. She keeps the place running with day-to-day operations, invoicing, reporting, enrolling students and organising everything from top to bottom.
The serious side of things, accounts, are handled by Sandra Cornish. As Accounts Manager she deals with the cash and supplies cheese platters and baked goods on Fridays.
Jade Cornish does a bit of marketing, writing copy (poetry, some might say) for the website amongst other tasks, and supplies Elvis tunes to the office space on a regular basis.
